Deploy the Hyper-Q Virtual Machine

This procedure describes how to install and configure an individual Hyper-Q VM instance. For a deployment that includes multiple instances of Hyper-Q VM, repeat the following procedure for each instance you want to create.

Create a Virtual Machine in Azure Create a virtual machine in which to deploy the Hyper-Q software.

Required ports for Hyper-Q Hyper-Q uses designated TCP and UDP ports for communication. You configure the Hyper-Q VM so that it permits inbound connections using the designated ports.

Register the Microsoft ODBC drivers Registering the Microsoft repositories does not install the ODBC driver suite directly but registers the repository. Hyper-Q uses this repository to download and install the ODBC software.

Configure Hyper-Q for use with Azure Synapse After installing the Hyper-Q software, you configure each Hyper-Q VM for use with Azure Synapse.

Install the Hyper-Q License File Datometry provides you with a unique license file which must be present for Hyper-Q to run.

Install Hyper-Q User Defined Functions Hyper-Q utilizes user defined functions (UDFs) to implement standard functionality. You must install the UDFs in the Azure Synapse instance and update them with each new Hyper-Q release.
