Create a Virtual Machine in Azure
Create a virtual machine for Hyper-Q following the procedures for provisioning virtual machines in Azure. To learn more, see Virtual machines in Azure in the Microsoft Azure documentation.
Attach a Data Disk to the Virtual Machine
You must attach a data disk to the virtual machine and specify that it use Read/write for the Host caching setting.
To learn more, see Use the portal to attach a data disk to a Linux VM in the Microsoft Azure documentation.
Virtual Machine Requirements
The virtual machine must meet the following system requirements.
Resource | Non-Production | Production |
---|---|---|
VM type | D16v3 or D16v4 | D32v3 or D32v4 |
Data disk type | Standard SSD | Premium SSD |
Data disk size | 500 GB | 1 TB |
Host caching for data disk | Read/write | Read/write |
Operating system | RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.x–8.x or CentOS Linux 6.x–8.x |
The virtual machine you create and instantiate that meets the above requirements is now referred to as the Hyper-Q VM.
